Below is a list of Congressman Schiff’s memberships on caucuses, task forces and coalitions. Congressman Schiff’s leadership positions are also noted.

Democratic Study Group on National Security, Founder and Co-Chair: The study group is a forum to engage Democratic Members on emerging national security issues by hosting regular discussions with experts. The Study Group has focused on topics such as non-proliferation, terrorism, defense, military transformation, post-war Iraq, homeland security, missile defense, and intelligence. Speakers have included former National Security Advisor, Sandy Berger; Lieutenant General Claudia J. Kennedy; nuclear terrorism expert, Graham Allison; former Assistant Secretary of State, Rand Beers; and General Jay Garner, former head of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Iraq. Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus, Founder and Co-Chair: The Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus is a bipartisan and bicameral group committed to protecting American intellectual property and reducing the scourge of piracy abroad. 

Congressional Caucus on the Judicial Branch, Founder and Co-Chair: The Congressional Caucus on the Judicial Branch is a bipartisan group committed to working with the judicial branch on issues that come before Congress that directly impact the Judiciary, including addressing the need for additional judgeships, analyzing proposed sentencing reforms and changes to civil procedure, responding to judicial vacancies, assisting with judicial compensation, and securing funding for additional courthouses and other priority projects. 

Congressional Caucus for Freedom of the Press, Founder and Co-Chair: The Congressional Caucus for Freedom of the Press was founded in May 2006.  The bipartisan bicameral caucus is co-chaired by Representatives Schiff and Mike Pence (R-IN) and Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Richard Lugar (R-IN).  It aims to advance press freedom around the world by creating a forum to combat and condemn media censorship and the persecution of journalists around the world.

House Democracy Assistance Commission:  In May 2005, Congressman Schiff was appointed by Speaker Dennis Hastert and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve on the newly-formed House Democracy Assistance Commission.  The Commission’s mission is to strengthen democratic institutions by assisting parliaments in emerging democracies. Central to the Commission’s work will be the provision of technical expertise enhancing accountability, transparency, legislative independence, and government oversight in foreign parliaments.  Visit the House Democracy Assistance Commission website for additional information. 

House Blue Dog Coalition: This Coalition consists of House Democrats dedicated to ensuring sound, responsible fiscal policy.  Rep. Schiff has been a member of the Coalition since coming to Congress and has worked with his Blue Dog colleagues to advance polices that seek to balance the budget, reduce the deficit and eliminate wasteful spending. Congressman Schiff differs with the Coalition on certain issues, such as health care reform, and strongly supports an overhaul of the heath care system that includes a robust public option.

House New Democrat Coalition:The New Democrat Coalition was formed to provide moderate, pro-growth Members of Congress the opportunity to advance a policy agenda on the critical issues of technology, the economy, trade, education, and fiscal responsibility.  Visit the New Democrat Coalition's website for additional information.   

Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues: This bipartisan caucus works to strengthen U.S.-Armenia and U.S.-Karabagh relationships, aid efforts to stabilize the region, and promote awareness of the Armenian genocide.

Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus: The Caucus is comprised of a formal group of Members of Congress who have strong interests in promoting Asian Pacific American (CAPAC) issues and advocating the concerns of APAs.  For more information, visit the CAPAC Caucus website.

Congressional Law Enforcement Caucus: The Law Enforcement Caucus is a bi-partisan working group of Members of Congress who seek an open forum to address issues affecting the law enforcement community. It serves as a clearinghouse for information and grants and a sounding board for ideas brought forth by the law enforcement community. LGBT Equality Caucus: The mission of the bi-partisan LGBT Equality Caucus is to achieve full enjoyment of human rights for LGBT individuals in the U.S. and around the world. By serving as a resource for Members of Congress, their staff, and the public on LGBT issues, the Caucus works toward the extension of equal rights, the repeal of discriminatory laws, the elimination of hate-motivated violence, and the improved health and well being for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Democratic Caucus Task Forces

Safe Neighborhoods: Rep. Adam Schiff is a member of the Safe Neighborhoods Task Force of the House Democratic Caucus, a group of members of Congress committed to helping local law enforcement, courts and schools keep our communities free of drugs and violent crime.

Defense and Military Personnel: Democrats are committed to ensuring America's military remains the world's best. The Defense and Military Personnel Task Force works to: ensure our troops receive the proper pay and benefits they deserve; support a well-funded and well-equipped military; and serve as a clearinghouse of information on defense issues for Democratic Members.

Homeland Security: The task force aims to present to the American people and communicate to the world a positive vision and agenda for a constitutionally secure, stable and prosperous United States of America in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
