Washington, DC – U.S. Representatives Brad Miller (NC-13) and John Dingell (MI-15), along with Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Kay Hagan (D-NC) will host a screening of the award-winning documentary, Semper Fi: Always Faithful. The film is based on the life of retired Marine Master Sergeant Jerry Ensminger who has made it his life's work to investigate the cause of his daughter's death at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Ensminger's daughter, nine-year old Janey, died of a rare leukemia. Her father's search for answers led him to the discovery of one of the largest water contamination cover-ups in history. In addition, the film features some of the legislative and investigative work on the toxic water at Camp Lejeune. Recently, Miller and Dingell reintroduced the Janey Ensminger Act which would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide health care to veterans and their families who have suffered adverse health effects after exposure to toxic water at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The companion bill in the Senate is the Caring for Camp Lejeune Veterans Act of 2011. The screening will be followed by Q & A with Jerry Ensminger; Michael Partain; Rachel Libert and Tony Hardmon, Co-Directors/Co-Producers of Semper Fi: Always Faithful.
