WASHINGTON, D.C.—Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (D-Palo Alto), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, issued the following statement today after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit rejected Verizon's appeal of the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) data roaming rules:

"I welcome the Court's decision rejecting Verizon's challenge of the FCC's data roaming rules. These rules promote competition and the seamless availability of wireless services consumers have come to expect. Such rules are particularly important for smaller wireless carriers that often have little choice for roaming partners other than their largest rivals."

Early last year, Rep. Eshoo led a letter to FCC Chairman Genachowski in support of the Commission implementing its data roaming rules. A copy of the letter can be found here.
