Today we remember the terrible tragedy our nation experienced at Pearl Harbor seventy-one years ago, and we mourn those who were lost. But we also remember how, in the face of such a challenge, our nation came together with a common purpose. The years that followed were a time of unity and shared sacrifice for the Greatest Generation. Some went to war, some went to work for the war effort, but all gave of themselves for the sake of our nation and the freedom we enjoy today. Their efforts serve as an inspiration for all of us as we work to build a secure future for our nation.

Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is another important milestone for John Deere’s continued presence in North Dakota. This company has long stood on the cutting edge, and we are grateful for their growing presence in North Dakota, and we remain committed to helping foster a business climate that will enable John Deere to continue growing, innovating and creating more good jobs.- Today, as people from across our great state and nation join together with family, friends and loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, it is fitting that we pause and offer thanks for our many blessings. We remain especially grateful for the resilience and character of the American people and recall the spirit and strength of the Pilgrims and Native Americans who celebrated the first Thanksgiving in 1621. We pray that these same values will continue to guide and inspire our great nation, and we offer our thanks to God and our forebears for all of the blessings we celebrate today. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
