Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in recognition of the final return home of the late Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods from Libya:

“The final return home of the late Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods is met with great sadness and deep prayers from all Members of Congress.  

“These patriotic Americans served on behalf of democracy and freedom; they gave their lives to nothing less than the cause of American values.  Our freedom at home is sustained only because there are many Americans who are willing to fight for it, stand up for it, and lay down their lives for it.  The courage of these four Americans is shared by all our men and women in uniform and Americans serving our nation around the world.  We will honor their sacrifice by tirelessly pursuing justice on their behalf.

“Today, and in the days ahead, their families will grieve.  I hope it is a comfort to the many who loved Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods that so many grieve this tragic loss and are praying for them in this sad time.”
