Fitzpatrick: Stay Off the Roads -- Remain Safe

IVYLAND, Pa – Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08) is working closely with personnel at  the  Bucks County Emergency Operations Center as Hurricane Sandy moves closer to our region.  "I will continue to remain in contact with  emergency management officials at all levels of government throughout the storm." 

Fitzpatrick reminded residents it is important to stay off the roads during the storm for personal safety and also to allow emergency personnel access.

Currently, 28 municipalities in Bucks County have announced emergency declarations. As the storm moves closer, the Bucks County Commissioners and Emergency Management officials remind residents to take all necessary precautions.

According to the National Weather Service, some of the most acute regional flooding is expected to occur along the Neshaminy and Poquessing Creeks in Lower Bucks County. As such, mandatory evacuations have been ordered in specific communities along those waterways.

In addition to flooding, the torrential rains and high winds are expected to cause widespread power outages. Currently, there are thousands of homes that have lost power across Bucks County.  Constituents who have lost power are urged to report their outage directly to their  utility provider.
