AARP and AMA endorse House Democrats’ Health Care Reform Bill

Today, two important groups announced their support for the Affordable Health Care for America Act.  The endorsement of our bill by both the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP) and the American Medical Association (AMA) sends a clear message to Congress that two of the most significant groups in this debate – seniors and doctors – believe we are truly reforming health care by offering quality, affordable coverage to Americans. AARP, one of the most-trusted voices for America’s seniors, reassures them not to believe the scare tactics and myths: the House Democrats’ bill will provide them with a  secure and stable health care system for years to come.

"We can say with confidence that it meets our priorities for protecting Medicare, providing more affordable health insurance for 50- to 64-year-olds and reforming our health care system." Nancy LeaMond, AARP Vive President

“… The Affordable Health Care for America Act…will significantly expand health insurance coverage to Americans to empower patient and physician decision making; institute meaningful insurance market reforms; make substantial investments in quality; institute prevention and wellness initiatives; provide incentives to states that adopt certificate of merit and/or early offer liability reforms, and reduce administrative burdens.” J. James Rohack, AMA President

The AMA and AARP join dozens of groups who support this bill for its meaningful reforms that will bring down the costs of health care, expand coverage, and preserve Americans’ choice of doctors, hospitals and health care plans.  Read the entire list on Speaker Pelosi’s blog.
