Report Finds House Bill Saves Americans $2,500 a Year on Health Care Costs

A new report released today finds that the House Democrats’ Affordable Health Care for America Act offers huge cost savings for American families and the nation. The study, co-authored by nationally recognized economists at the Center for American Progress and the Commonwealth Fund, revealed that our legislation will save the average American family more than $2500 a year on health care costs while drastically reducing the deficit over the next ten years.

Reforming health care is a crucial part of our economic recovery in a way that benefits American families and this study confirms that our bill is on the right track. The report’s findings acknowledge many of the critical provisions in our legislation that will save dollars for American families and help return our nation to sound economic footing. These include:

  • Modernizing the health care system
  • Lowering administrative costs
  • Increasing competition
  • Incentivizing quality of care, rather than quantity of patients
  • Increasing emphasis on wellness and prevention
