Hi, I’m Senator Orrin Hatch.

As the weather gets colder and the leaves turn, I’d like to wish all those in Utah and all of our brave troops serving around the world, a very happy Thanksgiving.  In 1789, President George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving Day proclamation. He –quote – recommend to the people of the United States, a day of public thanksgiving and prayer for the civil and religious liberties with which we are blessed.

Over the next few weeks, many of us will have the opportunity to gather with family and friends to participate in some great traditions. In between the turkey, pie and football games, I encourage you reflect and give thanks for the freedoms and the many blessings we enjoy in Utah and in this great country.

As I reflect, I am grateful for all of the men and women in our armed forces, both past and present, who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms.

I am also thankful to have the opportunity to represent you in the United States Senate. Our country is dealing with some tough issues, and I will continue to work hard to confront these issues head on. But I know our country’s best days still lie ahead.

Elaine and I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.
