Congressional Art Competition

As a proud member of the Congressional Arts Caucus, I have the opportunity to participate in the Artistic Discovery Contest, which provides a wonderful opportunity to support young artistic talent in the nation, as well acknowledge the gifted students from the South and Central Coasts.

Each spring, I invite high school students from the 23rd Congressional District to enter a piece of art work in the Artistic Discovery Contest.

The over-all winner of our district’s competition is invited to Washington D.C. for a ceremony and her or his winning piece will be proudly displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington also includes artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.

The Congressional Arts Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
