Internships

A limited number of intern positions are available in my Washington, D.C. and Mississippi offices for college students. The intern program is a unique experience designed to give each intern an opportunity to enrich their academic experience while learning the legislative process.

Washington, D.C. interns will have the chance to observe the day to day activities of the United States Senate and House of Representatives and gain first-hand knowledge of the workings on Capitol Hill. Mississippi interns will assist my staff in solving constituent's problems with the federal government and learn the services a Senate office can provide in cutting bureaucractic red tape.

In addition to attending committee hearings, researching legislation and assisting the staff with constituent inquiries, interns should expect to work in our mailroom, opening and distributing correspondence; provide clerical support, and learn to give tours of the Capitol building to our visitors.

Interested applicants must have completed their freshman year of college and have strong writing and research skills.
