Side-by-Side Health Care Reform Bill Comparison: The New York Times Agrees
November 6, 2009
This past week, the New York Times published two editorials: the first, endorsing the House Democrats’ bill as real reform that will provide quality, affordable coverage to Americans while bringing down the deficit; and the second, criticizing the Republicans’ bill for doing, well, nothing.
According to the Times, the Republican plan:
- Isn’t health care reform
- Doesn’t reduce the number of uninsured
- Cuts costs by cutting services to the American people
While our bill:
- Reduces the deficit by $104 million
- Drives down the number of uninsured
- Provides immediate help to people denied coverage because of a preexisting condition
