Dingell: We Must Continue To Remember Pearl Harbor

Dec 7, 2012

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement in remembrance of the 71st Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

“71 years ago today our nation was attacked at Pearl Harbor, precipitating our entry into World War II.  President Franklin D. Roosevelt correctly observed at the time that this was ‘a day that will live in infamy.’  On this solemn anniversary, we should take time out of our day to stop and pay our respects to those who lost their lives during this fateful attack, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation in the following years.  Their heroism in battle is beyond admirable, and helped preserve democracy both at home and abroad.  We must always remember the events of this fateful day while continuing to recognize the sacrifices of the ‘greatest generation’ who served their nation admirably in war.”
