Promoting Prevention and Improving Public Health

 

We know that a key to keeping Americans healthy and productive is improving their access to preventative health services.  Many experts also believe investing in preventative services will lower healthcare costs in the long term as Americans maintain a better health status.  The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) improves access to preventative services for Americans, including Medicare and Medicaid recipients.  The new law also implements practices to promote wellness, particularly by removing barriers to preventative care like eliminating co-pays for well-patient visits.
