Welcome to my Prescription Drug Abuse page. This page is designed to provide entire communities – parents; teenagers; public health officials and advocates; school leaders; and law enforcement – with the tools they need to better understand and help prevent the dangerous prescription drug epidemic facing communities across America.

Prescription drug misuse and abuse has reached epidemic levels and is threatening not only our youth, but also millions of adults and families. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, prescription drug abuse increased by 400% from 1998 to 2008 and is the second most prevalent form of illicit drug use in America.

In Congress, I have been at the forefront of efforts to reverse this epidemic and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure that as a nation we meet this challenge. Along with my colleague, Hal Rogers (R-KY), I co-founded the Congressional Caucus on Prescription Drug Abuse to unite policy-makers and raise awareness of abuse and craft innovative and effective policy solutions.

I hope this site provides you with the resources you need to prevent, treat, or recover from the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs in your own home and community.
