Republican Budget Leaves Working Americans and Future Generations Behind

Mar 25, 2012 Issues: Republican Budget, Debt and Deficit, Medicare, Taxes

Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member on the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the Republican budget:

“The Republican budget makes a very clear choice – tax breaks for millionaires and special interests, paid for by ending the Medicare guarantee, increasing the tax burden on middle-income families, and slashing investments in national priorities.  It’s more of the same, presenting a false choice for our nation that leaves working Americans and future generations behind.

“House Democrats will introduce a budget this week with a different vision for our nation. It will reduce our deficit in a balanced and credible way, making difficult choices but also making smart investments to keep America competitive. We will preserve the Medicare guarantee and work to strengthen it, not end it. And we will protect the promise and opportunity of the American Dream for all.”
