Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Alexander/Pulaski County Farm Bureau has received a $100,000 Value-Added Agriculture Product Market Development grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development. The funds will be used to assist in planning for ethanol production feasibility and byproduct local market development.
"The recently passed Energy Bill calls for significant increases in ethanol production, which will benefit Illinois farmers," Costello said. "Looking at options for ethanol production in Alexander and Pulaski counties is well-timed and will be good for economic development."
