ALTON COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #11 RECEIVES DRUG-FREE COMMUNITY GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Alton Community Unit School District #11, lead agency for the Alton Youth Development Strategy Partnership, has received a $98,686 Drug-Free Communities Program grant through the Office of National Drug Control Policy.  The funds will be used for community-based anti-drug efforts.

"Drug abuse has serious consequences, for communities as well as individuals and families," said Costello, a former law enforcement official.  "These funds will target prevention and treatment strategies in the Alton area to combat the problems associated with drugs."
