Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that three area fire departments have received Assistance to Firefighters grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All of the grants will be used to purchase operations and safety equipment. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"Improving the equipment and resources of our local fire departments is one of the most important things we can do to enhance public safety," said Costello. "Our first responders put their lives on the line everyday, and their dedication deserves our full support."
