Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that a partnership including the Center for Advanced Friction Studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale has received a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program award. The Department is working with 3TEX, Inc., located in Cary, North Carolina, on a project regarding Gradient Interphase, 3-D Fiber Architecture CMC's. The STTR program seeks to increase private sector commercialization of innovations derived from federally funded research and requires a collaborative effort between a small business and a research institution.
"Our economy is driven by bringing innovative technologies to market, and SIUC is playing an important role in this process." Costello said. "The STTR program is helping the U.S. maintain our global position as the leader in innovation. To make sure this continues, we must continue to invest in research and development and math and science education."
