U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS MILITARY MEDALS TO GRANITE CITY VETERAN

Granite City, IL - Granite City veteran, Hubert A. Hawkins, was honored by receiving his military medals on Monday, March 21, 2005 from U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello, (D-IL). Congressman Costello presented the medals to Mr. Hawkins at a ceremony held in the Nameoki Township offices.

Mr. Hawkins served with the 125th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in northern France, central Europe and the Rhineland.

Among the medals that will be awarded to Mr. Hawkins are the: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Bronze Star attachment, the WW II Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button, the Sharpshooter Badge and Machine Gun Bar and the Marksman Badge and Rifle Bar.

Mr. Hawkins contacted Congressman Costello's office asking for his assistance in securing his medals.
