U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT CHECK TO LONG LAKE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

Pontoon Beach, IL - On Tuesday, March 22, 2005 U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) presented an Assistance to Firefighters grant check to Fire Chief Danny Kreher of the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department at the Long Lake Fire Station located in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.   

Costello presented Chief Kreher and Pontoon Beach Village President, Harold Denham with a mock grant check in the amount of $44,535. The Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department will use these funds to add a sprinkler system, with smoke and heat detectors for the Fire Station.

The Assistance to Firefighters Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  The program seeks to enhance the ability of local fire departments to respond to fire and fire-related hazards in their communities. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
