U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS MILITARY MEDALS TO AREA VETERAN

Sparta, IL - A World War II veteran was honored by receiving his military medals on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL). Congressman Costello presented the medals to Robert J. Wooten at a ceremony held in the City Council Chambers at the Sparta City Hall.

Mr. Wooten served during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. Among the medals awarded to Mr. Wooten by Congressman Costello are: the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory medal and the Honorable Service Lapel Button.

Mr. Wooten contacted Congressman Costello's office asking for his assistance in securing his medals. The Sparta City Hall is located at 207 West Madison in Sparta, Illinois.
