U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS MILITARY MEDALS TO DUQUOIN AREA VETERAN

DuQuoin, IL - A World War II veteran from DuQuoin, Illinois was honored by receiving his military medals on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL). Congressman Costello presented the medals to Richard L. Norris at a ceremony held in the DuQuoin City Hall in DuQuoin, Illinois.

Mr. Norris served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946. He participated in action against the Japanese at Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands in 1945.

Congressman Costello awarded Mr. Norris the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the Honorable Service Lapel Pin and a Discharge Button.

Mr. Norris contacted Congressman Costello's office asking for his assistance in securing his medals. The DuQuoin City Hall is located at 302 East Poplar in DuQuoin, Illinois.
