Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Bi-State Development Agency has been awarded a $700,000 transit security grant for fiscal year 2005 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds are for the MetroLink light rail system.
"The events in London last week are a serious reminder of how important transit security is," said Costello. "Maintaining a high level of security takes cooperation at all levels of government, and I will continue to support these efforts."
