Carbondale, IL - On Tuesday, January 11, 2005, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello, along with Carbondale City officials and officials with the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development office, held a press conference announcing an important new housing initiative for the Carbondale area.
Costello announced that all residents and non-profit organizations in Carbondale, Murphysboro, Pamona and Makanda Townships are now eligible for low-cost home financing programs. Costello introduced legislation in the U.S. Congress to allow these communities to take advantage of these programs.
Home buyers in Carbondale and Jackson County are now eligible to receive low interest loans through local lenders which are backed by USDA Rural Development. These programs will help both current and future home owners in the area with a new source of financing opportunities to expand the availability of home ownership to all residents in Jackson County.
If you have questions about the program, please contact the Marion USDA office at 618-993-5396 ext 4.
