O'Fallon-Edwardsville - On Saturday, February 12, 2005, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) addressed over 700 high school students at O'Fallon Township High School and Edwardsville High School for their annual Saturday Scholar Program. The Saturday Scholar Program consists of area high school students who are selected by the school based upon their GPA and academic interests. The program gives students additional opportunities to have a better understanding of current issues. The topic of the program Congressman Costello presented was the 9-11 Commission, Findings and Recommendations.
Congressman Costello also arranged for Michael Hurley, Operations Officer for the CIA and Senior Counsel/Director of Counterterrorism Policy Review of the 9/11 Commission to address the students. Both Costello and Director Hurley presented information on the Commission's findings and recommendations and also took questions from the students.
