Energy, IL - On Friday, January 28, 2005, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) presented an Assistance to Firefighters grant check to Fire Chief Andrew Barclay of the Energy Fire Department at the fire station located in Energy, Illinois.
Costello presented Chief Barclay and Energy Mayor Frank Jeters with a mock grant check in the amount of $124,650. The Energy Fire Department will use these funds to purchase a new pumper vehicle for the department. Also present were members of the Village Board and other members of the Fire Department.
The Assistance to Firefighters Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The program seeks to enhance the ability of local fire departments to respond to fire and fire-related hazards in their communities. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
