Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that five fire departments in the Metro East have received Assistance to Firefighters grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"These awards will enhance fire protection services in the area," said Costello. "Public safety must remain our number one priority, and I will continue to work to ensure that our first responders have the resources they need."
