Representative Johnson Receives 2011 Fueling Growth Award

Washington, Oct 26, 2011 - Today, Congressman Johnson was honored with the 2011 “Fueling Growth” Award by Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis. This award, the highest recognition presented to congressional supporters of renewable energy, illustrates Congressman Johnson’s commitment to fostering growth and innovation in all energy sectors in order to produce more domestic energy and reduce our dependency on foreign energy.

Mr. Buis stated, “We are grateful for the leadership and wisdom of Rep. Johnson. This award serves as a reminder of our appreciation, and our continuing efforts to make this country’s national security and economic security stronger through a robust and viable alternative, renewable fuels industry.”

As a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, Congressman Johnson has defended the Renewable Fuel Standard that displaced 10% of foreign oil in 2010. Developing our nations renewable energy resources will create jobs and strengthen our national security.

Upon receiving the award Congressman Johnson stated, “Rural America and agriculture is the backbone of the American economy. Renewable fuels are 100 percent a keystone to strong communities, good paying jobs, and increasing, not only America’s domestic energy supply, but the American principle of self-reliance, as well. I am honored to receive this award on behalf of my constituents and my district.”
