IRS
Offering Free Online Tax Preparation and Filing
Service
Dear Friend:
With this
year's April 18 filing deadline just around the
corner, you may have already completed the process for
filing your 2010 tax returns. If you have not filed, I
want to bring your attention to the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) Free File program, which offers low-to-moderate income
taxpayers a fast, free and secure way to file their federal
income taxes online.
IRS Free File is open to every
American who had an Adjusted Gross Income of $58,000 or less
last year. If you qualify, you can visit the IRS
website, www.irs.gov,
and click on the "Free File" icon. There, you will find
a list of Free File Alliance member companies, and you can
choose the company that best fits your needs or use the "help
me find a company" tool if you are not sure. After
choosing a company, you will be transferred to that company's
website to prepare, complete and electronically file your
federal income tax returns.
For those who are eligible, this
is a free and useful service made possible by a partnership
between the IRS and key tax software providers. Filing
taxes online through a secure medium such as IRS Free File can
also lead to a faster turnaround in receiving tax
refunds. Also, as a reminder, IRS Free File can only be
used to file your federal income taxes. Please also
remember to file your state income taxes separately.
As always, please do not
hesitate to let me know whenever I can be of assistance.
You are invited to sign up for
future electronic newsletters. Please feel free to
forward this message to friends and neighbors you think might
be interested in this issue. Sincerely,
Jerry
