DC Tour Tips

Washington, DC is a large city where all the sites are spread out, and parking is a big problem.  The best way to get around the city and see the sites is the Metro.  You can buy a pass for the whole day and not have to worry about metro fees at each stop.  There are metro stations throughout the greater Washington, DC area and it is much easier to park you car and metro than drive into the city and finding a parking place.

Before you come to DC you will want to make a list of the places you want to visit.  My website contains all the sites in DC, and will give you what sites you need tickets to get into.  Once you have a list of the places you want to visit you need to make a plan to visit them.  Try to plan it so that you see all the sites in a particular area so that you do not run around DC and needlessly tire yourself out.  (Try to visit the sites in sections like Capitol Hill, the National Mall, the Monuments, and Arlington National Cemetery.)

Weather is also a big factor when visiting Washington, DC.  In the summer it is extremely hot and humid, and in the Winter it is very cold.  You should dress appropriately based upon the area weather forecasts.  In addition, please wear walking shoes.  The buildings and monuments look like they are close together, but they are really miles apart.  Don't be someone who ruins their vacation because their feet have blisters!

Also, make sure you bring enough camera film and water for the day- prices tend to be steep in Washington, DC.  And be sure you know what you can and cannot bring with you on the various tours you take in our Nations Capitol.  Do not bring knives, guns, or any form of weapon.  Washington, DC is a city that loves to have tourists, but will enforce the law.  Again, be sure to know what is allowed on each tour- they all have different rules and regulations.

For other tour tips please contact my staff in my DC office and they will be more than happy to assist you.
