Visclosky: Balanced, Comprehensive Approach Needed for Fiscal Cliff

Merrillville, IN – Congressman Visclosky released the following statement thanking the AFL-CIO members and Northwest Indiana residents who participated in a vigil today to highlight the impact of the fiscal cliff:

“As the representative of Indiana’s First Congressional District, I have always encouraged organizations and individuals to contact me on any matter that is of concern to them.  I value their input and always do my best to represent their interests.

Today, many citizens gathered to have their voices heard, and I thank them for participating in the democratic process.  I believe that the approach to address our current budgetary situation should be a balanced, comprehensive approach that protects our national defense, promotes economic development in our nation, and maintains the structural integrity of Medicare and Social Security for current and future generations.”
