STEARNS HOLDING HEARING ON FCC HANDLING OF LIGHTSQUARED NETWORK

PANEL WILL CONSIDER IF FCC INVOLVEMENT IN LIGHTSQUARED WAS CONSISTENT WITH FCC POLICIES

 

WASHINGTON, SEPT. 20, 2012 -- Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, is holding a hearing on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) process and decision-making regarding granting a conditional waiver to LightSquared.  Said Stearns, “This hearing will examine the FCC process that resulted in a private company that invested $4 billion filing for bankruptcy and 40 MHz of spectrum left lying fallow.”

On Friday, September 21, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing entitled “The LightSquared Network: An Investigation of the FCC’s Role.”
