Larson Names Irma Esparza Diggs Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus

WASHINGTON – House Democratic Caucus Chairman John B. Larson (CT) today named Irma Esparza Diggs as the new Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus.

“I’m very happy to name Irma Esparza Diggs to succeed Shelley Rubino as the Executive Director of the Democratic Caucus,” Larson said. “With nearly twenty years of experience in the public, private, and non-profit communities and her track record of building partnerships and bringing people together, I know Irma will make a great addition to the team and be a real resource for the Members of the Caucus.”

“I look forward to being able to help continue the great work the Caucus has been doing, serving the Members and the nation,” said Esparza Diggs. “I’m especially excited about working with so many great Members and staff who are engaged every day fighting for their constituents and the country.”

Esparza Diggs joins the Caucus with a professional background that spans every level of politics. She served as New Mexico’s Coordinated Campaign Director for John Kerry’s Presidential effort, Congressional Liaison at the Department of Commerce for former Secretary Daley, aide to Congesswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson from her home state of Texas, and with one of the nation’s largest public employee unions, the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees. Most recently, she served as the Chief of Staff to then-DC City Councilmember, and Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, Kwame Brown. She also previously worked as a volunteer board member of DC’s Jumpstart Read for the Record, and the Planned Parenthood Political Action Fund.

A resident of Washington, D.C. since 1992, Esparza Diggs worked her way through school at The Catholic University of America, earning a Bachelors Degree, and at American University, where she obtained a Masters in Public Administration.
