Larson Announces Departure of Chief of Staff Shelley Rubino

WASHINGTON – House Democratic Caucus Chairman John B. Larson (CT) announced that his Chief of Staff, Shelley Rubino, is leaving at the end of the month to become Vice President of Global Government Affairs of Airlines for America (A4A).

“For twenty five years, Shelley Rubino has been both a good friend and a valued confidant. Her intellect, grace and consummate professionalism have made her a tremendous asset to both me and my office and the entire Democratic Caucus and a role model for young professionals everywhere,” said Larson. “I want to thank her for her years of service, and I wish her all the best as she begins this new chapter of her career. While we will miss her vivacious personality and skill, she brings added value to any endeavor she associates with.”

“It has been an honor and a privilege to work for Chairman Larson and with all of the Members and dedicated employees of the House of Representatives,” said Rubino. “I will greatly miss working for the Chairman, yet I know he and the amazing team he has put together will continue to fight for both Connecticut and the nation. You would be hard pressed to find a more devoted and professional staff than the one I was privileged to work with for the last two congresses.”

Rubino first worked for Larson in 1987 in the Connecticut State Senate. In 2008 she joined his team in Washington to help manage the diverse demands of both the First District of Connecticut and the Democratic Caucus. Rubino received her bachelor's degree in communications from Eastern Connecticut University. In addition to her legislative experience, she has served as Vice Chairman of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission and on the Board of the Connecticut Riverfront Recapture. She is involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations.
