Hultgren Votes to Reaffirm Support for Israel

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) today released the following statement after voting for the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012, which passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 411-2.

“Israel has the right to exist in the Middle East, plain and simple. The U.S. is prepared to lend whatever help is necessary to support Israel’s inherent right to self defense.

“The resolution I voted for this afternoon reaffirms our commitment to provide Israel the military capabilities necessary to deter and defend itself. It also reaffirms our intent to assist Israel with its on-going efforts to forge a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, resulting in two states living side by side in peace and security. In this climate of partisanship, this is one issue both sides of the aisle clearly agree on.”
