Hultgren Applauds AMA's Decision To Reconsider Support For Individual Mandate

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) applauded today’s report that the American Medical Association will consider withdrawing its support for the individual mandate contained in last year’s anti-growth Democrat health care law during the association’s annual House of Delegates meeting this weekend.

“The AMA’s decision to reconsider its support for the burdensome, anti-growth individual mandate is just one more sign that President Obama’s health care law is falling apart at the seams,” said Congressman Randy Hultgren. “The AMA’s decision is also a reminder that it is the free market – not the heavy hand of government – that drives the innovations that have made America’s health care system the best in the world. I hope the AMA shows the wisdom to withdraw its support for the individual mandate, and I hope that their decision to do so will provide a renewed impetus to our efforts to repeal the President’s health care law and replace it with legislation that actually reduces the cost of care while preserving individual freedoms.”
