U.S. 1/S.R. 100 Bunnell Connector

The US 1 and SR 100 intersection is a nexus point for traffic and has become a regional bottleneck. Due to its limited road infrastructure, delays at this junction pose a significant obstacle in the hurricane evacuation routes along SR 100 East from the coast and US 1 that runs North and South. The City of Bunnell is also the county seat for Flagler County, and the region is in critical need of traffic relief caused by problems at the intersection.

With Federal Assistance secured by Rep. Mica, he is working with the City and County to build a new connector which re-routes commercial traffic and allows traffic to bypass the intersection. The project also serves as the keystone piece toward the development of a much-needed regional industrial park facility.

Just as importantly, the connector includes innovative methods for stormwater attenuation that will significantly reduce flooding in one of Flagler County’s most economically distressed areas. In addition to safety benefits and better emergency management efforts, the project will improve local and regional traffic circulation.
