LYNX

LYNX provides public transit services throughout Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties, an area spanning approximately 2,500 square miles and with a population of over 1.83 million people. In addition to the LYMMO, a free downtown Orlando circulator, LYNX provides CarPool and VanPool services, a door-to-door paratransit service called ACCESS LYNX and also the Road Rangers roadside assistance program on I-4.

Founded in May, 1972 as the Orange-Seminole-Osceola Transportation Authority, the agency became popularly known as “LYNX” in 1992 and was officially renamed the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority in March, 1994.? ?

LYNX requires regular maintenance overhauls and periodic replacement of vehicles in its fleet of 290 air-conditioned coaches on 65 routes. As Florida’s most senior member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Mica has worked to make sure that our State and particularly Central Florida receives its fair share of mass transit and federal bus/bus facility funds. Over the years this has translated into nearly $25 million in federal assistance for LYNX.
