Tax Reform

Any citizen who has paid their taxes knows that the current tax code is too complicated. For individuals this may simply be an inconvenience, but for many small businesses it represents a loss of productivity and serious obstacle to growing their company. In this current economic climate, Congress must do all that it can to simplify the tax code, so business owners can concentrate on creating jobs.

Finally there are certain taxes that should be abolished all together. These include the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and the death tax. The AMT has proven to be a burden on the middle class, for whom the tax was never meant to apply. Previous Congresses have recognized this fact and enacted numerous “patches” but have yet to fully repeal the law. The death tax disproportionally impacts small businesses and family farms.   Even though these individuals have paid taxes for their entire lives, Congress has seen fit to tax their families again after their death, many times destroying established businesses and breaking up family farms.
