People all across Minnesota understand the impact high energy prices have on their standard of living. Volatile prices hurt every aspect of the economy, and the United States has become dependent on foreign sources of energy.

The solution to this problem is straightforward. The United States must increase local production of energy. This will ensure prices remain stable and prevent billions of dollars from reaching foreign countries that do not have our best interest at heart.

Unfortunately, the current administration and the federal bureaucrats in Washington have made expanding our domestic energy production nearly impossible through their draconian regulations. I will monitor agencies such as the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency carefully to ensure that they responsibly facilitate expanding our domestic energy production.

America must also lead the way in energy innovation. The government should work with businesses and universities to promote research into alternative energy sources. This will ensure that America will never again be reliant on foreign sources of energy.
