Health Care Decision 2012

Today, the Supreme Court stuck upheld, as constitutional, most portions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, in NFIB v. Sebelius

“The Supreme Court’s decision will have devastating effect on our economy, small business owners, and the American taxpayer. After repeated assurances by the Administration that this was not a tax, the American public is left with yet another empty promise from their President,” said Congressman Farenthold.

“The Constitution sets limits on the powers of the federal government. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has greatly broadened the definition of a tax. The decision gives the legislature virtually unlimited taxing power,  Americans should hold on to their wallets and be wary of how the government will use this new found power. I believe a vast majority of Americans disagree with this decision, which is why I have voted, and will continue to vote, to repeal this bad law. In November, Americans will have the opportunity to express their objections at their voting machine.”

According to Rasmussen Reports "54% of Likely U.S. Voters at least somewhat favor repeal of the health care bill, while 39% are at least somewhat opposed. This includes 43% who Strongly Favor repeal and 28% who are Strongly Opposed to it."  CLICK HERE to see all the taxes hidden and not so hidden in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, compiled by American's For Tax Reform.

Congress must fully repeal ObamaCare and work toward common sense reforms, including equal tax treatment, tort reforms, cross state insurance plans and reduction of costs. It is possible to find a legislative solution to health care that does not include European-style government run health care.
