H.R. 3409, Stop the War on Coal Act

Summary: On Friday, the House passed the Stop the War on Coal Act to check the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) costly job-killing regulations in order to protect jobs, keep energy affordable and prevent the premature closure of coal plants. This Act limits surface mining regulations and requires regulatory analysis and a cumulative cost analysis of EPA’s rules. H.R. 3409 gives states the power to regulate coal ash and turns the power for setting Clean Water Act water quality standards from the EPA to the states.
