Bonamici statement on grand opening of Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center Cornelius Clinic

Oct 19, 2012 Issues: Health Care

Portland, Ore.—Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) congratulated the staff and administrators of the new Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center Cornelius Clinic at the center’s grand opening today.

“Thirty seven years ago, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center opened to provide medical services to disadvantaged communities. Today’s grand opening of the Virginia Garcia Cornelius Wellness Center—funded in part by an Affordable Care Act grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services--is a symbol of the past success and future potential of this great organization. By expanding its focus to prevention and coordinated care, Virginia Garcia will ensure the health of families from around the region while reducing costs to patients and taxpayers. The medical home model exemplified by this clinic will serve as a model for groups around the state that are collaborating on health care transformation, ensuring that all Oregonians can enjoy the standard of care established by the providers, administrators and staff at Virginia Garcia.”
