JEC Chairman Casey’s Statement on June 2012 Employment Report

Jul 06 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the U.S Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ June 2012 jobs report showing that 80,000 total nonfarm jobs were added and the unemployment rate was little changed at 8.2 percent:

“Today’s report shows that the private sector continues to add jobs, though not as quickly as we need. The economy has added private sector jobs for the last 28 months, but to lower the unemployment rate we need stronger job growth.

“We still have more work to do to recover from our losses during the Great Recession. Washington must continue to do everything possible to strengthen the economy and help unemployed Americans get back to work.”
