Service Academy Nominations

The Congressman accepts nomination applications from residents of the First District of North Carolina who are interested in attending one of the nation's military academies. Nominations can be made to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination. You may fill out the Application for Nomination online and print it to mail to my Wilson, North Carolina District office.

Service Academy applications MUST BE postmarked by November 15.

You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to access the application.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be at least 17 years old but not have passed their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year of enrollment. They also cannot be married, pregnant, nor have any legal obligation to support children or other dependents. Applicants must reside within the First Congressional District of North Carolina.

Due to the competitive nature of the nomination process, you should seek as many nominations as possible. Be sure to contact both North Carolina Senators and the Vice-President of the United States.
