About the District

I am motivated by the deep, broad and serious needs of eastern North Carolina, and by the belief I can provide leadership in helping to overcome challenges affecting people within the district.

Without question many people in eastern North Carolina are suffering and in great need of resources and assistance.  Without increased resources and improved infrastructure, our region will only fall further behind.  Without access to opportunities and services, the people will never be able to come together and move forward.

With this in mind, I am sincerely committed to achieving the ultimate goal of significantly improving the quality of life within North Carolina’s First Congressional District. Over the past few years, the people in eastern North Carolina, as well as across the country, have been listening to political rhetoric of hope and change.  It is time to deliver on those worthy promises.

Moving forward over the next few years, I will continue to be increasingly focused on finding more ways to make a difference within our local communities.  And, the most direct, effective and meaningful way for me to assist our communities is increase our share of federal resources.  I look forward to working with each member of our community to make eastern North Carolina a better place for everyone.
