Kind Disappointed in Process, Encourages People to Weigh in on Transmission Lines

Washington, DC – Following the decision made by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to move forward with plans on the CapX2020 high-voltage transmission line, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind expressed his disappointment in the process and is encouraging people who may potentially be impacted by Badger Coulee line to make their voices heard.

“For years now, I’ve heard concerns from land owners regarding the proposed lines,” said Rep. Kind. “I’m concerned too. That’s why I’ve met with officials at Xcel Energy, sent letters expressing these concerns and demanding answers, and had my staff attend dozens of public hearings. This process has been confusing and the decision making secretive. I’m disappointed in the way this decision was made.”

Rep. Kind has personally met with both Xcel Energy and American Transmission Company (ATC) officials to discuss the transmission lines, sent letters to both Xcel Energy and ATC sharing the concerns he has heard from constituents and asking for answers, and has had staff attended dozens of hearings and public forums to better understand the project.

“As part of this project, there is another line under consideration,” said Rep. Kind. “The process for the Badger Coulee Line has just begun. I encourage those who are concerned to make their voices heard by contacting both the Public Service Commission and ATC and by participating in upcoming public forums on the topic.”
