Congresswoman Edwards voiced her opposition to funding cuts that would eliminate the James Webb Space Telescope. Here are excerpts from the article:
The move drew opposition from some Democrats, who have called it the latest blow to the nation's space program.
“Days before NASA embarks on its final space shuttle mission, we can ill afford to jeopardize both the current and future leadership our country has in space exploration and observation," said Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) in a statement voicing strong opposition to the cuts.

Fox 5 - Tucson Shooting Forces Congress Members to Re-Think Security
Rep. Edwards meets with constituents
An excerpt:
At Saint Matthews United Methodist Church in Bowie Monday, Maryland Representative Donna Edwards was invited to speak at an inter-faith service honoring the life of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior.
There was no motorcycle escort getting to the church, no entourage, no bodyguards protecting the Congresswomen, just one aide who sat nearby.
In her remarks to the congregation, Edwards weaved the lessons from Tucson into the teachings of Doctor King.
"We've been reminded over the course of this last week to week and a half the importance of words and language and Doctor King knew the importance of words and language, he understood that words in fact have meaning".

Washington Post - Small-business fair links up entrepreneurs and lenders
By Danielle Douglas
Monday, December 13, 2010
Venkat A.R. Subramanian, owner of technology consulting firm Angarai International, expects to close on his first office condominium in Greenbelt this week with the help of a Small Business Administration 504 loan.
Prince George's Financial Services Corp., a nonprofit agency that's certified to manage state and federal loans, guided him through the process of securing 50 percent of the purchase price from a private lender to match the 40 percent backed by the agency. There was some frustration, with rejections from three lenders. And there was a false start, with a property deal that fell through.
Still, Subramanian couldn't imagine purchasing his first office property without the support of the nonprofit and government entities that came to his aid. Which is why he gladly stood in last week at Rep. Donna F. Edwards's (D-Md.) Small Business Lending Fair as an example of how lending programs can work.

Groups discuss census outreach strategy
Local participation encouraged to get federal funding
by Zoe Tillman | Staff Writer
Speaking just a few blocks away from Census Bureau headquarters in Suitland, U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Dist. 4) of Fort Washington asked several dozen community leaders gathered at her office Jan. 6 to consider how their communities could use a piece of the $400 billion pie of annual federal funding that will be given out based on the 2010 census.
"It's really important that [the count is] accurate," Edwards said, adding that if communities are undercounted and don't get the federal funding they need, cash-strapped local governments, nonprofit organizations and other groups will have "to take up that slack."

Congresswoman Edwards in the Washington Post: What Does the Nobel Peace Prize Mean for Obama?
When the Nobel committee announced President Obama as the Peace Prize recipient, thus began the sarcasm, second-guessing and chatter. Some opined that selecting President Obama is either a repudiation of our former president or premature for this one. Perhaps it is neither. Perhaps the international community is reaffirming our promise as practitioners of peace and diplomacy and protectors of human rights? Perhaps the Nobel committee sees the work undone and acknowledges at once both our imperfection and our desire to keep working?

A Robust Public Option is the only Option for Real Healthcare Reform
Opinion / Editorial
BY CONGRESSWOMAN DONNA F. EDWARDS
THURSDAY, 16 JULY 2009
The U.S. healthcare system is one of the most expensive systems in the world. We spend $2.2 trillion per year on healthcare services and products, and yet approximately 46 million Americans are uninsured, 80 percent of whom are from working families.
Almost half of all personal bankruptcies are attributed to medical debt. And, for the 80 percent of Americans who have health insurance, premiums, deductibles, and co-payments are skyrocketing; and we all pay for the flaws that leave millions uninsured and seeking care in expensive hospital emergency rooms. In fact, premiums rose 114 percent from 1999 to 2007, greatly outpacing incomes.
